Lion’s Tail is a chic, trendy restaurant in the Sound End neighborhood of Boston, offering an extensive list of local spirits, cocktails that could easily be classified as works of art and a seasonal menu that is filled with delicious dishes, cooked to perfection with the freshest ingredients. A nice, pleasant experience begins from the moment you walk into the door. The staff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable, ready to make recommendations on food and drinks based on your palate desires. The ambiance and lighting is very comfortable and inviting, accompanied with pleasant live music, enhancing the experience further.
Executive chef Daniel Pagano took us through a culinary experience, focusing on some of their most popular dishes. It all started with the heirloom tomato salad with local burrata, toasted pine nuts, basil purée, and vanilla bean balsamic. This combination of fresh ingredients was simply put, delicious and the highlight of this salad is without a doubt the burrata cheese with its rich flavor and texture that melts in your mouth. What followed was a trio of dishes that ultimately led us to confusion as we couldn’t decide which one was our favorite. The steamed littlenecks with crispy pork belly, tomato, corn, arugula, lemon cream and grilled bread.
The salmon with roasted beets, bok choy, preserved lemon gastrique and toasted almonds. And lastly the confit pork belly with deviled egg aioli, cold pickled cabbage and spicy ancho honey. After some major deliberation, we settled on the confit pork belly. It is to die for!
And for a perfect ending, the ice cream sandwich with chocolate chip cookies, french vanilla ice cream and chocolate ganache. Yum!
