Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Im a 34 Year old graphic designer, currently working for a local Newspaper in Production & Advertising design. I’m also into distance running, I try and run 10-15 miles a night around the city… gives me great opportunities to scout out new locations to shoot from!
When did you realize your passion for photography?
I was always into photography, but never anything too serious. I would always have a point-and-shoot or a GoPro with me but never thought of myself as a photographer at all… then three years ago I finally decided to purchase a DSLR and I fell in love with it. As I got more into the manual settings, I started reading about long exposures and night photography and was totally intrigued. I went out and tried some long exposures for myself I was completely hooked! I spent that whole summer just shooting night after night. Now Im pretty much obsessed with shooting!
What is your advice to aspiring photographers on Instagram?
First piece of advice is just get out and shoot! Take photos of everything! Also be sure to interact with the rest of the Instagram community, there are a LOT of amazing local photographers out here to take inspiration from. I’ve never even personally met most of my IG friends and I’m still totally inspired by all of them. Also Try not to worry too much about likes, followers, whether or not other people are going to like your stuff, etc., and just post whatever you think looks good!
Anything else you’d like to share?
For the most part just get out there and have fun shooting! Photography gave me a great chance to go explore the city, I’ve lived around here my whole life and never saw as much of Boston as I have in the past two years, owe it all to photography!
