Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hey there, I’m Ashley! I am a commercial and editorial freelance photographer from Boston (now based in Los Angeles). My images reflect my daily explorations and human interactions. My true desire – humanitarian at heart – is to work my way into the social documentary photo world.
When did you realize your passion for photography?
Since early childhood visual storytelling has been at the center of my heart. Looking through my parents photo albums was one of my favorite things to pass the time. I began learning to take photos on their 35mm film cameras and developed my own film.
How has becoming an Instagram influencer impacted your life or career?
Instagram has provided me with life-long friendships, visual inspiration, an intricate network of collaborative creatives, motivation to evolve my craft, and a full-time photography career.
What is your advice to aspiring photographers on Instagram?
Connect. It’s important to learn from and encourage one-another. Don’t be a ‘follower’ – create images that YOU love, that is what will translate most. Connecting – with real people – is really what photography, Instagram, and life is all about.
Anything else you’d like to share?
If you truly want to be fulfilled I would suggest going to community events, they’re a great way to meet others that share your passion and give you exclusive access/knowledge to the city. @igersboston events is where I began interacting with the community 🙂
